After visiting our first national park I can say that I'm impressed. We stayed at Blackwoods Campground. If you can't stay there because it's booked out, then there are also two more campgrounds inside the park.
On our first day we didn't do too much, we mostly just got our tent and tarp up and didn't do much more.
For day two, we hiked the Ocean Path. It was pretty nice with alot of good views. Thunder Hole is the main tourist attraction of Ocean Path. It gets its name from when water fills up in a small hole that makes a big splash and a thunder like noise. You can even feel the ground shake at times. For all of us Thunder Hole was the highlight of this hike. The rest of Ocean Path was pretty nice but nothing special.
On day 3 we hiked the wonderland trail. It was a 20 minutes from our campsite and personaly wasan't that much. The best bit was halfway through and was pretty cool. It was big, but it was mostly just rocks. There were also some tidepools that sometimes had crabs in them. Later that day we hiked the jordan pond path. We didint do it all because we were tierd from the wonderland trail. after we partily did the path, we went up to a kitchen and got popovers. They were realy good. Just make sure to book a reservation a few days in advance. We got lucky that they had an open table when we got there.
Day 4 was the best of the five days we stayed. We woke up at 2:20 in the morning and set off to hike cadalack mountin in the dark to see the first sunrise in America. It was so butiful i barely belived it. The hike had 1,500 feet of elevation and was 7 miles long but was worth it. Some other trails might be different but we went up the south ridge trail. The hike got more and more beautiful as it went on and colder and colder. I strongly recomend bringing a jacket and a warm blanket for it is very cold at the top.
