Visiting Hawaiʻi Volcanoes was a very unique experience featuring many cool volcanic rocks and volcano craters. We started by doing a walk through a lave tunnel called the Thurston Lave Tube. It was amazing being surrounded by so many rocks that were at one point magma. That was one of the highlights of the trip.
We also hiked a trail named the Kilauea Iki Trail. It was a long, one of a kind experience as you walked through a volcano crater. Although it did get pretty hot while you were being exposed out in the open for so long. It was worth it though. We saw so many cool things, from normal bushes and trees, to piles of rocks that used to be scolding hot magma. You couldn't find something just like it no matter how hard you tried.
We stayed in the park for a while and camped in cabins. Despite what you might think, they were actually really comfy and cozy. They had bunk beds and you could get outside in the snap of a finger. We strongly recommend bringing bug spray though, because mosquitos were absolutely everywhere!
