Recently, we vistited Evergaldes National Park. It was one of our favorites because it was very unique with lots of animals we had all never seen before. We walked a few different trails, one of which was the Anhinga Trail (near the Royal Palm Visitor Center, the rangers can help you find it). It was on a path facing out onto the beauty of the park itself. We got to see a few gators and crocodiles, which was generally most of that experience. Although we also saw some other animals like birds and turtles, but they were nothing in comparison to the amazing sight of alligators and crocodiles. We also did a second trail called the Pa-hay-okee Trail. It was about five minutes long and you can admire how flat Florida really is by gazing out onto the miles of open field.
Another experince in the park was going to the Nike Missile Base. You got to see gigantic missiles that were defused a long time ago and learn about them. This was really cool because you could see how big they really were and also got to see the technology inside them. We didn't take the tour of the base that was an hour and a half long, and we were pretty happy that we didn't. The only reason we might of wanted to take it is because we thought of many questions about the base after we left. So we would strongly recommend thinking of questions before going in.
Pro tip: While going to or leaving the Everglades, stop by Robert Is Here. It is a delicious market with food, and some of the best milkshakes in Florida. There are so many flavors and combinations it is hard to pick! I tried the mango flavor and it was awesome but there were definitely more good flavors!
